Framed in the Darkness

Yes it's dark, I'm sorry

So I know that I’m way behind, I left everybody with just the foundation being poured. That was the Sunday after Thanksgiving I believe…Just 2 short weeks after the foundation got poured, the framing went up. These pictures were taken as the sun was setting, I got out there a bit too late, after a photo session with the Trans AM, but have a look…This is simply a formality at this point, as I’m about to write another post with updated pictures. I just like to keep things in order.

From the Backyard

From the Backyard

Well I was hoping to make this report around this time last week, but delayed plumbing inspections as well as inclement weather pushed the pouring of the foundation about a week. Nevertheless, the foundation is now poured, and from here, I know the rest goes up very quickly.

I was however noticing one thing—with just the cement poured, the house looks rather small. Now, I have been inside of a couple of houses that share my floor plan, including the model home, and they all look much larger than just the foundation of my house does. Either way, I know that soon the walls will go up, the roof will go on, and then it will look much bigger than it does now, with just the foundation poured. That smaller square in the foreground of the picture will become my covered patio, and they should be pouring another 12′x12′ square right next to it, where I’ll put the grill.

Now I’m going to really have to start checking up on the lot more often, because in 2 weeks or less, the house will have walls and a roof, and I want to get all the steps in between. Do stay tuned for updates, they should be pouring in!

Time for the plumbing

Time for the plumbing

So I stopped by the lot the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and saw that they have dug lots larger trenches, getting prepared for the piping, and soon after the foundation to be poured.  I also stopped by the Saturday after Thanksgiving to see all the piping pointing towards the sky, all ready for the inspection.

I got a phone call from Celeste last night with an update, the plumbing inspection is scheduled to take place today, and more than likely the beginning of next week the foundation will be poured.  Once the foundation gets poured, it’s off to the races.  I saw how fast the walls go up after that.  It’s all very exciting, so stay tuned for all the updates, I will be sure to get them all posted!

Pretty, clean engine bay

Pretty, clean engine bay

Alright, so I just got the car back, she ended up making 413.27rwhp and 370.91ft/lb of torque, and has a nasty sound…it is truly awesome. Working on finding a good camera to capture the audio, so stay tuned for that—the video I took the night I went out to the shop didn’t turn out very good, the audio on the camera I was using SUCKED pretty bad, and that’s unfortunate. Oh and I found out that I’ve been missing out big time…a 60 punch in 2nd gear is where it’s at!

After driving it sporadically for the last couple of weeks, I’m learning what people refer to as “less daily drivable” as being stuck in traffic is absolutely no fun, having to drive slow, stop and go frequently with a big cam…doesn’t work out so well at low speeds, and has actually died 3 times while pulling into, or out of a parking spot. It’s running much too rich I’m afraid, and I’m only getting 15-17mpg on the fuel economy, so I’m thinking I need Billy and the guys at Billy Ranck Motorsports to re-evaluate the tune. Other than that, I love it…regardless of the temperature, I’m always cruising around with the windows rolled down, just so I can hear the cam. I love it!
